In all seasons, live the Outaouais!  Mackenzie King Estate
For nearly 50 years, this 231 hectare estate was the summer home of William Lyon Mackenzie King, Canada's 10th Prime Minister. Visit the restored cottages, stroll among the magnificent gardens, wooded trails and picturesque architectural ruins that King himself had installed on the grounds. The main floor of the Moorside cottage has been converted into a tearoom. Come and relive 50 years of Canadian history, brought to life through historical films, interpreters and informative signs.
Guided tours available by reservation.

 Écomusée de Hull
The Hull ecomuseum is designed to raise awareness about ecological issues. The better we understand how our ecosystem works the more responsibly we behave towards our environment. You will learn about the origin of our solar system and the evolution of the Earth.
You will discover various important natural phenomena involved in maintaining life on Earth, as well as the chemistry of our atmosphere and the physics of our soil. More than 4,000 specimens of some of the most beautiful insects in the world will be displayed in a unique space designed specifically to house the ecomuseum's insectarium.

 Auberge Symmes
In 1831 Charles Symmes built a quarried stone hotel, on the shore of the Ottawa River, west of Hull.
Known as the Aylmer Hotel, it was located there to serve the steamboats scheduled to begin operations in 1832. It later became the Symmes Inn.
In 1973 the Societé d'aménagement de l'Outaouais (Western Québec Development Society) salvaged the building from ruin and restored it. It was later designated as a heritage building. |

 Canadian Museum of Civilization
When the new Canadian Museum of Civilization opened its doors on June 29, 1989, history was finally given a living stage. Every exhibit at the Museum is designed to be experienced.
The Museum presents an educational and entertaining view of Canadian history through historical re-enactments and stage performances that help you gain deeper insight into our Canadian heritage.
The Museum was designed by architect Douglas Cardinal. It is part of the Society of the Canadian Museum of Civilization, together with the Canadian War Museum, which is dedicated to the military heritage of Canada. |

 Hull-Chelsea-Wakefield Steam Train
All aboard! Located just 5 minutes from Parliament Hill and the Canadian Museum of Civilization, and very close to the Casino du Lac-Leamy, is an authentic old-time steam engine train. It takes you on a 32 kilometre excursion to Wakefield, a quaint little village built alongside the Gatineau River in the hills of Gatineau Park.
Choose from among various guided tours and be sure to watch how the operators manually turn the train around, in Wakefield, to return to the city. This is a perfect day trip with family and friends. The Steam Train is in operation from the Canadian Tulip Festival, in May, until Fall Rhapsody, in October. Be sure to catch the train!
